Soft Contact Lenses:
Our office stocks hundreds of trial contact lenses from various brands. This allows most patients to go home with trial lenses after they are fitted. Different soft contact lenses that are available include spherical, toric, and multi-focal lenses.

Gas Permeable (GP) or Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Contact lenses:
Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Contact lenses are made from a hard, oxygen permeable material that allows for more flexibility and durability.

RGP lenses are a great choice for:
  • People with severe astigmatism for whom soft contact lenses are not available.
  • People with presbyopia.
  • Individuals with keratoconus, a condition where the cornea is cone-shaped and causes visual distortion.
  • Individuals who need contact lenses after refractive surgery.
  • Orthokeratology (othro-k), where specially designed GP lenses are worn overnight to reshape the cornea and improve vision.

Scleral Contact lenses:
Scleral contacts are large-diameter contact lenses that rest on the sclera of the eye. These lenses cover the entire corneal surface to replace the irregularly shaped cornea with a smooth surface to correct vision problems.

Scleral lenses are a great choice for:
  • Individuals with irregularly shaped cornea.
  • People who require larger GP lenses for more comfort.
  • Individuals with keratoconus.
  • Individuals who need contact lenses after LASIK or other corneal refractive surgery.

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K):
Orthokeratology is a process that reshapes the cornea using specially designed gas permeable contact lenses. These specialty contact lenses are worn only at night to reduce the progression of myopia (nearsightedness). Orthokeratology allows patients the convenience to see well during the day without the need of glasses or contacts.

Ortho-k lenses are a great choice for:
  • Individuals between 8-12 years old with progressive myopia.
  • Most adolescents and adults under age 40.
  • Individuals with low to mild nearsightedness (-6 diopters or less).
